 Kenneth Reece Watson

January 20, 1954

November 6, 2003

Ken Watson was an outstanding young man and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was the director of KATV’s “Daybreak” and “Good Morning Arkansas”. He was a Sunday School teacher and was an active member of the Promise Keepers. He was always an avid golfer, playing for Southwest Junior High and Parkview High School. He was offered a golf scholarship to UALR, but instead opted to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Ken’s love for golf continued throughout his entire life and there is no better way to honor him than to enjoy playing in this tournament, named in his memory.

The Ken Watson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament was established in 2004 to honor Ken and continue God’s work through the youth of our church. The proceeds of this tournament will help the FUMC Youth to fund mission trips. The mission trip experiences have proven to be ones that have transformed our youth by instilling the importance of helping others in need. From wheel chair ramps to house painting to building houses in Mexico, there have been numerous projects completed through the service of the young people of our church. The Ken Watson golf tournament helps make such life-changing trips possible.
